<p> To monitor vehicular pollution, the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) on Wednesday launched 12 vehicles fitted with sophisticated emission monitoring equipment. <br /><br /></p>.<p>KSPCB chairman Lakshman said the vehicles are fitted with equipment to monitor three pollutants from vehicles - smoke density from diesel vehicles, carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons in petrol vehicles. <br /><br />To intensify pollution monitoring, eight vehicles have been designated for Bengaluru and one each for Mysuru, Mangaluru, Dharwad and Kalaburagi, he added.<br /><br />Vehicular pollution monitoring checks will be conducted by the KSPCB, Transport department and Traffic police, he stated. <br /><br />Forest, Environment and Ecology Minister B Ramanath Rai, Bengaluru Development Minister K J George, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike Mayor G Padmavathi, Additional Chief Secretary, Forest, Environment and Ecology T M Vijay Bhaskar and KSPCB officials were present. <br /><br /></p>
